Helpful Tips for the Job
After They Fall Asleep
By: Paige
The children are asleep, the house is quiet, and you are bored. So inviting over friends is cool, right?
Wrong! Whatever you do, do not invite over friends they will serve only as a distraction. The children are
your first priority and you don't need friends making the house messy. Another thing you shouldn't do is
fall asleep, the children could wake up and get into stuff or hurt themselves.
Parents admire you for your extra work, so instead of going on the computer or watching television, clean up.
Do something simple, like dishes or sweeping. Some parents notice and will pay you extra money from what you do
after bed time.
Choo-Choo Clean up!
By: Sarah
Oh no! Maggie left her toys everywhere!
Someone might trip over them!
The kids are just not listening and the parents are going to be home in about 5 minutes.
Most of us know how it feels when you're babysitting , and the kids made a COMPLETE MESS!
The parents are going to be home anytime now!
The clock is ticking , and you're under pressure.
What are you going to do?
It's important to understand that the kids you are babysitting are not in control of you and
you can't always be the one cleaning up their mess!
Input should be required from them too, as long as it's not a hazardous mess to clean up like glass etc.
So why not put some fun into it?!
You want the kids to be happy and sharing fun, as well as have the parents impressed
when the kids tell them how much fun they had with you.
Try playing the game "Choo-Choo Clean Up"
In this game the object is to get cleaned up in a certain area before the train leaves.
You're The train driver. Have the kids line up behind you.
Take them to an area where the mess is.
Tell them to quickly put everything back where it needs to be and to make sure it's clean and tidy.
(If there is hazardous messes that need to be clean by you or an adult, do not play this game)
When you feel like it, shout "Choo-Choo!"
Which is a 2 minute warning that the train will be leaving.
After 2 minutes, shout "Choo-Choo!" again.
This means that if the mess is not cleaned up by now they have to do it again.
If it's a big mess, help from the babysitter is always nice too.
If the mess is cleaned and there is another mess awaiting, holler "All Aboard!"
And take them to the next area that needs to be clean.
This game usually gets the kids happy and involved.
If there are no more messes, the game ends.
A treat is always a good reward for them to look forward to.
When the parents come home, tell them about it.
They love to hear funny stories like these.
I hope this works out for you!
For those of you still struggling with this problem,
