A newborn's brain is still developing, and a baby has no control over her limbs yet. Swaddling not only helps the baby feel secure in the big wide world, but it prevents her from waking herself up with randomly flailing limbs, and helps her regulate her body temperature.

Scared of the Dark?

If a child is a afraid of the dark what do you do? For one thing, you need to understand and try to comfort them. You can't be scared yourself. You need to show them that everything is okay and stay calm. Next dim the lights if you can, if you can't turn on a night light. Try sitting at the end of the bed and reading them a story. Or lying with them until they fall asleep. Once they are asleep, don't turn off the night light because they might wake up in the night and be really scared.

Calming Down Babys

Ok, as soon as the parnets are gone the baby starts crying. To calm him down try gently patting his back or his bottom, while walking around.
If that doesn't work try singing Hush Little Baby or Rock-a-Bye-Baby.
If he's still crying see if he hungry or needs a diaper change.
If he won't calm down now call his parents because he might be sick.
